Valeriy Sokolov è sempre più richiesto per le sue interpretazioni sorprendentemente mature di alcune delle opere più difficili del repertorio violinistico. Le apparizioni recenti e future includono concerti con la Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestre National de France, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National de Bordeaux Aquitaine e NDR Radiophilharmonie. Tra le pietre miliari nella carriera di questo artista vi sono recital al Teatro Mariinsky, ai Festival di Verbier e a Colmar. La sua registrazione dei concerti di Bartók e Tchaikovsky con la Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich e David Zinman è stata pubblicata dall’etichetta EMI/Virgin ad ottobre 2011. Sokolov ha lavorato con eminenti direttori d’orchestra: Vladimir Ashkenazy, Ivor Bolton, Andrey Boreyko, Susanna Mälkki, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Peter Oundjian, Vasily Petrenko, Kwamé Ryan, Hubert Soudant e Yan Pascal Tortelier. L’artista ha anche suonato con importanti orchestre: Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Mozarteumsorchester, Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Cleveland Orchestra e Hallé, e ha partecipato ai Festival di Aspen, St Denis e Gstaad. A febbraio 2008, ha eseguito per la prima volta negli Stati Uniti il Concerto per Piano e Violino di Boris Tichenko alla Carnegie Hall. Valeriy si esibisce regolarmente in recital al Théâtre du Châtelet di Parigi ed è spesso invitato all’Auditorium de Lyon per la serie “Grands Interprètes” nonché alla Wigmore Hall di Londra. Il musicista ha partecipato anche ai festival Kissinger Sommer, Lockenhaus, Ravenna e Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, e si è recentemente esibito per la prima volta al Lincoln Center, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Essen Philharmonie, a Vancouver e Hong Kong. Fervente interprete anche della musica da camera, Valeriy collabora regolarmente con i pianisti Kathryn Stott, Evgeniy Isotov e Igor Levit, e con i violoncellisti Leonid Gorokhove e Maximilian Hornung. Incidendo in esclusiva con la EMI/Virgin Classics, con cui nel 2009 ha pubblicato la Sonata n.3 di Enescu assieme alla pianista Svetlana Kosenko, Sokolov sta sviluppando una discografia imponente e varia. Il suo primo concerto su DVD, il Concerto per Violino di Sibelius con la Chamber Orchestra of Europe sotto la direzione di Vladimir Ashkenazy, e il film “Un violinista nato” di Bruno Monsaingeon, registrazione del recital di Valeriy a Tolosa nel 2004, hanno ricevuto critiche entusiastiche e continuano ad essere proposti di frequente su ARTE TV. Nato nel 1986 a Kharkov, in Ucraina, Valeriy si è aggiudicato lo Study Grant Prize al Concorso Internazionale Pablo Sarasate di Pamplona nel 1999 e nel 2005 il Grand Prix al Concorso Internazionale George Enescu. Sokolov è generosamente sostenuto dall’Accenture Foundation nell’ambito del loro progetto dedicato ai giovani musicisti.

Appreciated for her expressive and very emotional performances, Alissa Margulis regularly plays in important concert halls such as the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, the Cologne Philharmony, the Vienna Musikverein, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and Zurich, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, Beethovenhalle Bonn, or the Schönberg Hall in Los Angeles.
Born in Germany into a family of Russian musicians, Alissa Margulis studied in Cologne with Zakhar Bron, in Brussels with Augustin Dumay and in Vienna with Pavel Vernikov.
She made her first public appearance at the age of seven with the Budapest Soloists and has performed since then with numerous orchestras such as the Camerata Switzerland, Kremerata Baltica, the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the SWR, NDR and the WDR Rundfunkorchester, or the Orchestre National de Lorraine among others.
Alissa Margulis is an enthusiastic chamber music player and collaborates with artists such as Martha Argerich, Yuri Bashmet, Julian Steckel, Ivry Gitlis, Gidon Kremer, Mischa Maisky, Lilya Zilberstein, Paul Badura-Skoda and Polina Leschenko.
She further appeared at Festivals as the Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival, the Wiener Festwochen, Lockenhaus, the Menuhin Festival Gstaad, in Davos, Tours, Schleswig-Holstein, Verbier or the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, among others. Every year since 2005 Alissa Margulis has been invited to perform at Martha Argerich’s “Progetto” in Lugano.
During the 2012/2013 season Alissa Margulis will play concerts at the Philharmonie Essen, in Tokyo or in Guebwiller, appear with the World Youth Orchestra in Rome, Orchestre Philharmonique de Lorraine, the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival in South Africa. Further Alissa Margulis will be touring in Japan with her brother Jury Margulis and in Sweden with the Camerata Nordica in February 2013 as well as give her debut at the Enescu Festival in Bucharest in September. She will perform chambermusic at Lars Vogt’s “Spannungen” Festival in Heimbach as well as appear with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana Lugano performing the Violin Concert of Alexander Glazunov under the baton of Alexander Verdernikov, which will be recorded as well for CD (Avanti Classics).
In 2011 two highly praised CD’s were released: for the Oehms Classic label she recorded together with her brother, Jura Margulis, pieces by Franz Liszt for violin and piano. Together with the Camerata Switzerland under the baton of Howard Griffith Alissa Margulis recorded Mozart’s Violin Concerto no. 4 for Novalis.
EMI Classics produced several CDs titled “Martha Argerich and Friends” in which Alissa Margulis appears in live performance.
Alissa Margulis is a title holder of many international competitions (Wieniawski, Vercelli among others) and awards, such as “Pro Europa” from the European Cultural Foundation, which was presented to her by Daniel Barenboim.
