Stefan Tarara was born in 1986 in Heidelberg, into a musical family and made his stage debut at the age of 4. From his first participation in the youth competition“Jugend Musiziert” in 1994 until 2001, he won 1 st prizes, and gained his firstinternational success in 1997 when he won 1 st prize in the violin competition“Ètienne Vatelot” in Paris.He won 21 times 1 st prizes in national and international competitions, among them the1 st prize at the international violin competition “R. Lipizer” 2011 in Italy, the1 st prize at the international violin competition “Valsesia Musica” 2006, the1 st prize at the international competition “H. Wieniawski and K. Lipinski” and the1 st prize and special prize for the best interpretation of a virtuoso work at theinternational competition “Henry Marteau” in 2005 and being a prize winner at theInternational “Premio Paganini” 2010 in Genova, the international “H. Wieniawski”2011 Competition in Poznan and the International Summer Academy in Salzburg in2005 as well as won 2 nd prize in the international competition “Tibor Varga“ 2008 and“Prague Spring” 2010.He already played the violin concerto no. 2 by Henri Wieniawski at the age of 10 andhas appeared as soloist with many orchestras: SWR Radio Orchestra, “MünchnerRundfunkorchester”, RTV Symphony Orchestra Ljubljana, Symphony OrchestraBucharest, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, among many others. In July 2007 he was received with a storm of enthusiasm at his China-Debut in a sold-out performance in Beijing Concert Hall with the China National Symphony Orchestraunder the chief-conductor En Shao. He interpreted, as the youngest soloist everperforming with this orchestra, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Concerto op. 61 in D-Major.Stefan Tarara was received enthusiastically by the press at the Salzburger Fesival2005, at the “Schleswig-Holstein” Music Festival, at the International Festival “TheNext Generation II”, the contemporary music festival “Music Festival Salzburg 2005”,the Dilsberger Festival, the music festival “Heidelberg Spring”, at the opening ofEXPO 2000 in Hannover, by invitation to the “European Youth Festival of the Arts” inParis, at the live performance to celebrate the 70 th birthday of the Bucharest RadioOrchestra, at the opening of the concert season 2001-2002 in Walbzych (Poland) inWroclaw, Katowice, Kraków, Weimar, Madrid, Lisbon, Paris (Salle Pleyel and SalleGaveau), Mannheim (Rose Garden, Stamitz- and Mozart Halls), Berlin PhilharmonicHall and often in the Church of Our Lady in Dresden.As a special highlight, he performed his Israel-Debut with the Israel ChamberOrchestra conducted by Roni Porat in Haifa, Kfar Saba and Tel Aviv in November2009. In line with his Israel-tour, he performed as well a recital in Tel Aviv,accompanied by the pianist Shlomi Shem-Tov.Stefan Tarara is currently studying his “Master of Arts in Specialized MusicPerformance for Soloist” in the Music University Zurich by Prof. Zakhar Bro
